Casa Arrieta is a vertical dwelling located in a residential neighborhood of Belgrano, characterized by old houses. Due to its context, it was decided to preserve the original façade of the existing 80-year-old house and modify the entire interior. The project maintained the slabs as required by the urban planning code, while the structure was completely modified, including the addition of a basement, which presented an engineering challenge.
The house is organized through porticos that divide the interior into three large spaces, with a central glass patio that acts as a circulation hub, connecting all levels in a fluid manner. This patio has the particularity of zigzagging in both directions, generating numerous visual connections and improving the spatial experience.
The design also frees up intermediate columns, generating a large open space throughout the lot. Materials such as the continuous resin floor and the wooden furniture pieces that cover the dividing walls reinforce the cohesion between the different elements.
The house has five levels: basement, ground floor, first and second floor, and rooftop, each intended for different functions, but all connected by this dynamic central space.
