The Colegiales Rail Yard project aims to create a large urban park that integrates and provides breathing space to a densely populated area lacking public space. The key strategy is to raise the built-up area above ground level, freeing up the land and recalling the railway history of the place, which allows for a visual connection of the entire urban fabric on both sides of the park. The undulating geometry of the buildings seeks to unite the neighborhood, inviting the city to enter the park, organizing the different areas and culminating in a large plaza that integrates the station and the commercial axis. The upper levels house circulation, amenities and complementary uses, while ground level is reserved entirely for public space. The project proposes a system of multifunctional landscapes that improves connectivity, appropriation and sustainability through the management of water, microclimates and biodiversity.
